What We Do
The choir is made up of men and women, young and old. People who can and cannot carry a tune, but love to sing. The choir meets once a week at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings. We are always looking for volunteers to join in the merry-making.
Hand Bell Choir meets for practice on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 and practice for about an hour or so. One of the fun things that they do every year around Christmas time is to go to the area banks and ring in the lobby of the bank.
Something new that was added this year is the “Ding-a-Lings” as they are called, went to Brady West, our local Nursing Care Facility, and rang for the residents. There were great rounds of applause.
The Ding-A-Lings love to have new members. Reading music is not needed. If you can flick your wrist, you are in.
Prayer Blanket Ministry
Our prayer blankets are created with a specific person in mind. The people who help with this ministry cut the blanket creating fringe. The fringe strips are then tied into knots as people say prayers for the person who will be receiving the blanket. A card signed by all the people helping to make the blanket accompanies the blanket. One of the greatest joys is being able to deliver the blanket personally and pray with the individual.
United Methodist Men
These men love to cook almost anything, but they do love a good fish fry or a brisket. They have cooked for local organization to help raise funds for them. They also cook the meat for the 4th of July BBQ.
Mission is part of what we do. St. Teresa of Avila said it best, “Christ Has No Body” Christ has no body but yours, No hands, no feet on earth but yours, Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassion on this world, Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good, Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.”
